Providing over 1/4 of South Carolina’s total agricultural production, broilers are the state’s most important agricultural product. Turkeys are the second ranking livestock product in the state, followed by cattle and calves. Greenhouse and nursery products lead the way in the crops category. Tobacco is also important, followed by soybeans and cotton. South Carolina grows more peaches than any other state with the exception of California. South Carolina is home to the only tea farm in North America. The state is also home to many ag-related festivals, such as the Okra Strut, the world grits festival, the rice festival, the chitlin’ strut, as well as several other festivals featuring peaches, watermelons, shrimp, oysters, and catfish.
