Although known as the “peach state,” Georgia ranks third nationally in peach production. The state was given the nickname due to its reputation for producing some of the highest quality fruit in the country. George typically leads the country in production of peanuts and pecans, and ranks among the top five states in the volume of tobacco output. The state leads the nation in broilers and egg production. Poultry plays an important role to the state’s agriculture, and it’s in Georgia where one will find the world’s largest poultry convention. One out of seven Georgians works in agriculture, forestry, or other related fields.
