Soybeans, like peanuts, are part of the legume family. Soybeans are harvested and made into products like vegetable oil, animal feed, as well as soy milk and tofu. Soybean farms are frequently found in the upper Midwest, the Delta region, and the Southeast of the U.S. Often soybeans are grown in a crop rotation with corn. Single person and family run farms account for nearly 85% of soybean farms in the U.S. and soybean oil accounts for approximately two thirds of Americans vegetable oil and animal fat consumption. The U.S. leads the world in the production and export of soybeans.
