Red Cabbage with Apples

We use half a red cabbage to yield six good-sized servings.

 Ingredients
One half red cabbage, chopped
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon flour
Butter
One half apple, diced (any variety)
Caraway seeds

Directions
Put the cabbage into a large pot and add a little over a half cup of water. Sprinkle the cabbage with flour and add the vinegar, brown sugar, and butter. Cook on low heat for at least an hour, stirring occasionally. Make sure the cabbage doesn’t burn. Add a bit more water if you need to. About twenty minutes before serving add the diced apple and sprinkle on a teaspoon or more of caraway seeds. Caraway seeds become bitter if overcooked so add these last.
