Episode 722 - Rice and Sake addthis
Rice and Sake
California may be best known for sunny beaches and Hollywood movies, but the Golden State is also one of the major producers of rice in America. You’ll find California rice being used in sushi dishes and rice pudding, but it’s rice that’s also important in the production of sake.

Sake is an ancient Asian alcoholic beverage that demands a certain type of rice. Farmers in California’s Central Valley farm nearly six hundred thousand acres of rice fields. A good portion of that goes into making unique sake beverages.
