Episode 716 - Bringing City Folks to the Country addthis
Bringing City Folks to the Country
Like many places throughout the U.S., Muscatine County, Iowa wants to protect open space and give residents a chance to have a bit of the country close to home. The Muscatine County Conservation Board bought farmland and converted it to a nature habitat.

The habitat shows how you can have a focus on agriculture and improve the environment at the same time. Eight five acres were converted from corn fields to nature trails, wetland areas, a wildlife lagoon, and nature center. The habitat gives the community a focus on how land can be protected and also productive. In addition, there is an arboretum that’s become a “library of trees.”
