Wide Open Spaces
The Padlock Cattle Ranch raises beef on a half a million acres in parts of Wyoming and Montana. With 10,000 head of cattle, the ranch has also begun to welcome visitors whose time on the Padlock land is a far cry from the landscape of their urban homes. Rounding up cattle and moving them from pasture to pasture is part of the fun.

Rancher Wayne Fahsholtz says that welcoming visitors is a way to promote “agritourism” – letting people see what life is like on a farm or ranch. Visitors not only contribute to the bottom line in the ranch’s profits, they also gain a better understanding of where their food is coming from.
