The Cotton Harvest
Look in your closet, and you’ll likely see how important cotton is to all our lives. Cotton production, processing and sales generate more than a hundred billion dollars a year for the U.S. economy. We’ll trace this key product from field to fabric, and learn about the surprising byproducts made from cotton. We’ll also learn how new technologies and research are making cotton fields more pest-resistant and productive than ever before.

Jay Hardwick and family has been raising cotton in Louisiana for decades. Jay uses GPS satellite information to harvest thousands of acres of cotton. After being hauled to the cotton gin, the cotton will be combed and cleaned, and ready for use in a variety of products.
