Episode 614 - Ripe, Red Success addthis
Ripe, Red Success
Sometimes a great idea comes from a chance encounter. Carole Crimivaroli and her husband, George, were looking to buy a larger home with some land. The house they found in New York’s Hudson Valley came with a greenhouse and the family decided to begin raising hydroponically grown tomatoes.

Today, the family’s Mountain Fresh Farms sells tomatoes across the region, and even provides produce for chefs training at the world-famous Culinary Institute of America. We’ll discover how the greenhouse operation is a model of modern hydroponic technology. We’ll also see how this new enterprise is helping first-generation farmers like Carole and George gain an even deeper affection for the miracle of agriculture.
