Episode 612 - Harvesting Nature’s Popular Fruits addthis
Harvesting Nature’s Popular Fruits
Ben Trapani, his wife and sons are the fourth generation to work their fruit orchards in New York’s Hudson Valley. They grow peaches, grapes, blueberries, and plums, but apples are really the focus on this family farm. This land has been farmed since the early 1700s and a large part of their business is to make sure that their outreach helps consumers better understand the importance of agriculture to the Empire State.

Every week, you’ll find family members staffing booths at farmers markets in small towns across the valley—as well as a weekly booth at an urban market in the heart of New York City. As a further commitment to their love of agriculture, the Tripani family also opens their orchards up for farm visits. As Ben says, “It gives young people a better understanding of how we grow the food that makes its way to their tables.”
