Episode 416 - Rooftop Gardens   addthis
Rooftop Gardens
While you may not think of agriculture when it comes to New York City, you'll soon see how roof top gardens here are growing in popularity for fresh vegetables. First, we take a look at a greenhouse that sits on top of a barge, otherwise known as the "science barge" – it is a combination of an environmental education center and potential model for sustainable urban agriculture. Then Paul Ryan meets Eli Zabar who plays an important role in the success of New York City's roof top gardens and greenhouses that supply fresh produce for several of his famous Manhattan grocery stores and restaurants.
